We are singers and musicians, our job is to sing songs, so we will sing, neither they will stop for us nor we will stop for them. Chamkila Review

There is a lot in the film. Old clips have been used which fit very beautifully. AR Rahman’s music has done wonders. More than that, Diljeet and Parineeti Chopra have given a real feel to the movie by singing themselves. Chamkila’s songs reflect the truth of society. People call his songs vulgar and obscene but he is also listened to the most. There is a dialogue in the middle of the film when Chamkila is told that there is extremism in Punjab. There is an atmosphere of tension but people do not want to worry more, they want entertainment so that they can forget all this.

Direction of the film

Imtiaz Ali has made films like Jab We Met and Rockstar. His last two films Jab Harry Met Sejal and Love Aaj Kal could not succeed at the box office but this time he did wonders on OTT. He portrayed the Punjab of the 80s era well on screen. The length of the film could have been reduced a bit. Apart from this, something new and fresh has come after a long time. It must be watched.
