Mirzapur Web Series Review: ‘We are doing business, we are not doing business’. This dialogue spoken by Pankaj Tripathi tells that ‘Mirzapur’ is a political, drama-thriller web series. ‘Mirzapur‘ is the third original web series of Amazon Prime which is made in India. Earlier, Amazon Prime has made ‘Inside Edge’ and ‘Breathe’. All the characters in this series are quite fit in their roles, although the role of guns has been seen the most in the film. Country made guns, AK47, pistol, unlicensed, official and country made, all types of guns have been used in this series. The plot of ‘Mirzapur’ is of Mirzapur located in the east of Uttar Pradesh state where carpet trade is done on a large scale. This business has also been depicted in the series and the nexus of guns, politics and police has been shown to run it. According to the series, Mirzapur is ruled by Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) who smuggles drugs and guns under the guise of carpet business. Not even a leaf moves in the city without asking him. As there is a dialogue of Guddu Pandit in the film, “Kaaleen Bhaiya’s city, Kaleen Bhaiya’s square, if there is Bhaukaal in Mirzapur then it should be like this”.
The same Kaleen Bhaiya’s son Munna Bhaiya (Divyendu Sharma) never understands his responsibilities and his father always has to clean up the mess he creates. This is the series with a twist when Guddu (Ali Fazal) Pandit and Bablu (Vikrant Massey) enter. Guddu and Bablu are sons of honest lawyers. Guddu wants to become Mr. Purvanchal and Bablu an IAS officer. However, Kaleen Bhaiya wants to include them in his gang. However, Munna Bhai does not like this and from here begins the war for power.
This series has been divided into 9 parts. The cast of the series may convince you to watch it once but its plot is also boring at many places. In an attempt to bring many things together in the series, the interest of its story has been put at stake. The violent scenes shown in the story bore you instead of scaring you. The makers of the series have tried to show the political-social scene of the present time, although they did not succeed in it.
Web Series- Mirzapur
Director- Karan Anshuman, Puneet Krishna
Producer- Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani
Cast- Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Shweta Tripathi, Vikrant Massey, Shreya Pilgaonkar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda
Talking about the cast, Vikrant and Ali Fazal have done justice to the characters of Bablu and Gudde in the series and the acting of both can be called good. Pankaj Tripathi, as always, has played his role brilliantly. The story of Mirzapur is such that the audience has seen it many times before. So if you are looking for something new, then this series will disappoint you.
